Removing cats??
I was just wondering instead of removing your cats if you could just take them out a holo them out? My dad wont let me take them off so i was thinking i will just do the next best thing. Do you think it will make a difference in power and sound or will it hurt it? Also are the cats welled on or are they clampted some how? Let me know what you think about this idea..
Thanks.
Thanks.

It'll definitley not be the best sound you have ever heard. Think coffee can with exhaust running through it. Gives a hollow sound. [:'(]
As far as being welded or clamped... if they are factory they are welded, of course. You will notice a horsepower gain. 20HP? That is stretching it.

You will get alot more high end hp about 20hp.. But your motor will have no back pressure and may die when cold..

The difference will seriously be no more than 4-5hp, IF THAT. And it'll sound like poo.

RE: Removing cats??
why would it sound bad? it would pretty much be the same as an o/r h pipe. it will just have the factory 2 1/4' pipe instead of most aftermarket 2 1/2" pipes. You will definately hear your flowmasters more. i say go for it. you will have to get MIL's on there though....

b/c of the empty cat shells in there. Instead of flowing smoothly through like an O/R pipe, the sound bounces around in there. It's def. louder than having cats, but a guy in the club did it and ended up just buying an O/R pipe since he hated the sound so much.

....not to mention the fact that you have FOUR of them.

RE: Removing cats??
my car came with no cats, so i had to put some on to get it inspected. i have 2 magnaflow 3 " cats in my o/r h pipe and it sounds very good with my lm2s. id go with highflow cats if you can afford them.
