I'm not saying the screwdriver trick WONT work, most of the time it will, but I don't see the point of even using a screwdriver. You can not put an oil filter on tighter than a strap wrench can take one off, unless you have a cheapy strapwrench and it breaks. I have a 7 piece wrench set and they are heavy duty, not going to bend at all.

Mustang filters aren't difficult anyways IMO, they are easily accessable. Want to talk about "fun" cars to change oil, lets talk about German cars....

i was just replying to your comment that "NEVER use a screwdriver on an oil filter! If you do so, you shouldn't be changing your own oil." ive never owned a strap wrench to remove an oil filter. if i cant get it off buy hand i will let the car warm up and then the gasket will become warm and will 99% of the time will loosen right up, if it doesnt i take a screwdriver and do it that way. also my mark VIII you couldnt get a strap wrench on it with out removing the oil cooler lines, lower coolant hose and power steering lines. so the strap doesnt work with every make car.

x2, i use to work at a German dealer and you wern't using a strap wrench on those cars. you bareley got the tip of the filter plier on it and gave it a quick turn.

Well, I have a part time job in my father's quick lube garage doing simple stuff like changing oil, rotating tires, etc., so I'm not removing my own filters, I'm removing other people's filters who decided to use something like a Fram grip-filter and about 1000 pounds of torque to put the filter on. So, I'm a bit **** about that. Im sure Jbauer understands^

lets hope it isn't corroded. There is no logical reason why an oil filter would get corroded after just 3-6000 miles of being in the car. "Got Oil Changes?"
