Default 1998 GT 351w(5.4) Lightning engine swap

I have a 1998 Gt which i plan on putting a 5.4 lightning motor in or just a 351w with the 5.0 fuel injected stuff. If i went with the lightning motor I know I will have clearance issues but im confused about the computer and harness. Can i just swap out the 4.6 computer and just plug in the 5.4 or 5.0 computer or is there going to be some snipping, stripping, crimping and cursing involved?

The 5.0 will require a completely different harness. When asking questions like this you clearly need to do more research. Do a search and try to find a write up that was done by somebody who has already done this kind of swap.

Ive looked but i couldnt find anyone that did the swap in a 96-98. Thats y im asking. I just really dont wanna tear my whole dash apart to switch the harness. Also are the lightning 5.4 computers the same as the 5.0's as in the connections?

I would go with the 5.4 swap since it uses the same engine mounts as the 4.6 that's why they call them modular engines. The harness for the 5.4 will be a hell of a lot closer to the 4.6 than the 5.0. The 5.0 is not a modular engine so it is a completely different setup.

I know that the 5.0 isnt a modular motor. Im talkin about a 5.4 from the 1st generation lightnings with the s.o.h.c..I really dont wanna deal with modular motors cuz they r a bitch to time. But if Iwent with that engine then i would need different motor mounts probably even 94-95 k-member. As for the wire harness inside the car that clips into the computer then goes out to the motor, there is no way of using the 1st gen lightning computer or 5.0 computer without gutting the whole dash and interior and using the harness from the 94-95 and probably running into problems with interior accessories? Does anyone know what I am trying to say?!?!?!?!

Im trying to say this with as little words as possible...is it possible to run a non modular motor like the 1st gen lightning sohc 5.4 or take a 351w roller engine and use the 5.0 computer and all efi parts(excluding intake) AND STILL HAVE IT FUEL INJECTED???

The first gen lightning was a 5.8 (351) windsor pushrod motor not OHC. You need to get your facts straight, because your very confusing.

He's being a dick because your confusing everyone with your presumed knowledge.
If your going to swap a Pushrod into a 96-98 you will aslo need the k-member from a 94-95 Mustang.
And using the 96-98 harness on a pushrod will involve" some snipping, stripping, crimping and cursing"
