Slapping sound from engine?

Slapping sound from engine?
My car got a new motor put into it about 4,000 miles ago and today I heard a strange noise coming from her under the hgood upon startup.
It was about 15 degrees out, and I started up the car and thought the noise was coming from the heat vents but I went out to scrape the ice off my windshield and heard a light slapping noise coming from under the hood that dissipated in about 15 seconds.. any ideas?

if it went away after start up then it was just piston slap and the metal of the piston just had to expand (by heating up) to its normal size. it is pretty common with the stock hypereutectic pistons and happens even mor eif you have a forged bottom end. it sounds like a diesel engine when it first starts up.
