engine needs rebuild
I just bent a rod in the motor about a week ago. The shop I took it to says the engine needs a rebuild or needs to be replaced with a new or used one. I'm trying to decide what my options are now and what option makes the most sense since I don't have the time or the knowledge to rebuild the motor myself.
There are places like THR that I can send my motor off to be rebuilt right? I know that would be pricey but so would a replacement engine. My main concern with this option is the turnaround time. I'd like to have this fixed as soon as possible and I've heard things about THR being very slow. Is that true and are there others I could send it to?
I could try finding a junker 2V to put in it but my car only had 54k on it. Who knows what I would be getting with a junker.
The most expensive solution is a new 2V motor which would be the fastest and least of a hassle but that is more money than I would like to spend.
What do you all think I should do?

Try calling up MMR. See what they can do for you. I've heard good things about them. http://www.modularmustangracing.com/
Also, you could dry DSS. I've heard good about them as well. http://www.dssracing.com/modular%20engines.htm

Well a local ford dealership is going to sell me a crate motor for 2700 + tax and it comes with a 3 year, 100k mile warranty. That is going to be the selling point for me so that it's covered if something breaks again.
I'm going to replace the plugs, injectors and coil packs as well. What plugs would you guys recommend for a brand new motor or should I just have the shop put in whatever they think?

I have not had anything done on the car recently. My mods are 4.10s, s/s, springs, cc plates, strut tower brace and 93 octane setting with xcal. I have no idea how I bent the rod. I was driving hard when it happened but I wasn't redlining or anything. Kind of a freak thing I guess.

get another opinion then.Rods dont just bend for no reason.
Whats it doing?
I have a hard time believing a rod just bent while driving.

check out the block it may be trashed if the rod hit it. Get a nice MMR short block. Even if it doesnt have the forged crank its still way better than the stock stuff. I have heard a few bad things about them and DSS, but I have a DSS shortblock and its been doing great. I have about 5,000 miles on it sofar.

I would guess the cracked up gasket was leaking coolant into the cylinder heads or the original leak caused coolant to pool around the intake manifold and when I pulled it, coolant got into the heads. When I started it back up after the intake replacement it had a serious engine knock. Sorry, I forgot that I started a new thread about the motor replacement. I know I didn't drop anything in the heads when I was doing the work but I'm thinking some coolant got in there one way or another.
I know it didn't throw a rod, there is not enough of a mess and it still runs just with a really loud knock that sounds deep within the engine and increases with rpms and never stops. So I thought maybe it was a bent valve or something more easily fixed but when I took it to a shop they determined it wasn't a valve and was most likely just a bent rod. I found a pretty good deal for a new stock motor with a nice warranty. That is what I'm going to go with. So can you guys please help with the plugs and injectors? Thanks.
