Default RPM Hang on 99 5spd GT

Hey, my Friend has a 99 5spd GT and the RPMS Hang after you rev the motor. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks!


He is Stock Besides Catless Catback Exhaust.

Yes, After He Presses Gas the RPMS Hang For a Few Seconds.... Where My RPMS Drop Immediately!!!!


Ill Tell him about the IAC.


Any other problems it might be?

Not saying it is this, but also check your throttle body. I have seen instances where it will stick for a couple seconds after mashing the pedal. Just another idea i thought i would throw out there. Also check your throttle body cable and make sure it is not the reason that it is hanging up.

My father in-law has a 1985 vette(i know) and he was having issues with the same thing(After getting on it it would stay reved for a couple sec). He finally came to me and we found that the TB cable was not retracting smoothly into the protective plastice tubeing.we replaced it and all is fine now.

just check the iac, you might have a leak or it may need to be cleaned...my 99 GT did the same thing but it was fine after i cleaned it out

We Checked the TB.. it was fine. Thanks for the Reply!

We are going to Clean or Change the IAC Today... see if that helps or not!
