auto transmission goes into neutral on its own?? is it blown?
the automatic transmission in my 99 gt wont shift out of second gear and when it reaches 4000rpm or so it just goes into neutral. why? do i need a new transmission or is it something small and stupid that can just b replaced and not cost a a lot of money? oh and also it makes a really bad whineing nosie. when u give it gas the noise gets worse. someone help!

Its not going into nuetral, but slipping OP. Its shot man. I had the same problem in my Z28. It would tach out in 2nd, then start bouncing off the rev limiter. On mine, 2nd gear and 4th gear shared the same servo, so I prolly could've had it fixed if I had of done something sooner. I let it go for too long and ended up burning it up beyond repair. Check your fluid, I gaurentee you it smells like burnt ***.
I would recommend that you either have it rebuilt (depending on its condition) or buy another transmission.

ya rite, the fluid did smell like ***...the car just broke 90k miles should i try to get it rebuilt or just go for the extra $ and get a new one? if so do u know of any better trans. to look into rather then just getting another original one. cause i did some mods to the car and i dont want the same thing happeneing twice because of the extra horses its making.
