2000 ford mustang GT how much oil?

5 Quarts in the manual, but when I check the level it still needs arround 1/4 to 1/2, so add that up.

I agree with RedStalion. Best bet is to put in the 5 quarts as called for in the owner's manual. Then you can crank the car and let it run for a few minutes to let the oil cycle through. After that let it sit for about a half hour or so to let the oil settle back into the oil pan. Check the oil and top off if needed.
Offtopic: Hey RedStalion, how much longer are you going to be in Bahrain? I'm going to be deploying there for six months starting in April.

i use 5 quarts. I tried 6 before and the oil level was too high on the dipstick.

Why is this a thread? There is a dipstick you can use. Fill it up and call it a day.

I now use 6, I blew a rod bearing when I was running 5 qts, but there were probably other issues as well.
