Default Cam and S/C labor hours

Hey,

For those of you that did thier own work, how long should it take a reasonably good mechanic to:

a. Swap a set of cams in a 98 GT

b. install a Vortech V1 non-intercooled kit.

Any info will be appreciated

Do the blower yourself. A s/c install is not hard at all. takes about a day(taking you time) For a mechanic to do it, they would prob charge you about 6 hrs labor.

as far as cams, i personally have never tried. I dont see it being to hard, just alot of steps. The install should be pretty strait forward, it is just the tunning that i personally would need help with. I honestly do not know how long this install would take. I am sure some one else who has done a cam install will chime in and let you know.

I've never done an in car cam swap but I've switch cams in a few of these engines. Not to difficult, the biggest problem will be degreeing them.

Oh and you'll need an air fitting to compress the cylinder if you're planning on doing valve springs at the same time.

A non intercooled s/c install should only take about 3.5 hours including fuel pump. Cams take about 4 hours, 6 if you are doing springs also.

I installed my novi 2000 with no directions in about 2 hours. If a shop tells you 16 hours for a supercharger install find another shop. Hell I built the engine, installed it, installed a custom return style fuel system and installed the novi in under 16 hours.
