Default 96-98gt vs 99-04 gt

so besides the heads, what are some of the other major differences performance wise between the two? is there any difference in the block? is it really that hard to swap out the heads? ect.... thanks

Its the heads cams and intake...

the cams and intake are actually a lot more of a bottleneck than the heads.

Swapping pi cams and intake on a 96-98 will bring it up to about PI power level(99-04)

Pi swapped 96-98 cars will generally make 10-15 more hp becuase they get a bump in compression over 99-04 stock.

Thats pretty much it as far as performance....

I believe a lot of the 96-98s had like 2.73 gears in them too

maybe i will just do the cams and intake manifold and leave the npi heads on since the tad bit lower compression will possibly benefit my since i go the nitrous route.

I think nitrous actually works better with higher compression?

Boost likes lower compression but im pretty sure nitrous likes high compression, someone correct me if im wrong.

You would be better off doing the full pi swap and then run nitrous.
You could also just do pi cams and intake...its up to you

If you have the money just do the full swap with some long tubes.
You should be able to make around 270 rwhp with a pi swap, l/t, and tune

the other difference is in the mid pipe, 96-98 have 2 resonators and 4 cats. the 99-04 have 4 cats.

the Heads are a must to open it up in power.
