Default More Bad News about Patriot Heads

As I'm sure a few of you know, I got a set of patriot heads with leaky valve guides, So the heads came off and were shipped to a reputable machine shop.

Today I get a call from the guy saying that I a lucky SOB.

He said that while he was dissembling the heads he noticed that one of the keepers was missing from one of the valves ON BOTH HEADS!

So now I am thanking my lucky stars because I didn't end up dropping a valve and completely blowing my engine... again.

I know that many of you guys have had some degree of success with patriot but I honestly wouldn't recommend them to anyone, I don't think anyone should risk it.

But what's your suggestion of options without spending another $500+? I agree with your anger about your experience but it very well could have been an isolated incident.

Ditto... Glad you got it through it okay. I had thought about going with Patriots but have decided to wait for the new Trick Flow heads.

It could have been an isolated indecent, but they don't seem to have a good track record.

I didn't really have an alternative suggestion for anyone i was just informing everyone of my personal experience with them,

people have bashed the patriot 5.0 heads to death in the 5.0 section. i know were talking about their 4.6 heads but i doubt there is much of a difference in quality.

quality control is supposedly terrible at patriot performance.

i know that there really arent many other options but still....

There have been an awful lot of "isolated incidents"...

Sorry to hear that man. I heard all of the stories before I bought my patriot heads so I paid $100 to a local machine shop to go thru the heads (check valve guides, spring pressure, installed height and valve seat sealing) and I got lucky. The shop told me they were the best set of patriots they ever saw.

I really wish I had thought to do that before installing them the first time.
