315's better than 275's???
I have some yokos 275's on right now but they are gonna be gone soon and i wanted to get new wheels and tires. the Sumimoto 315/35/17's are on sale for 110 at tire. Will those hook up better than my 275's or are they a crap tire? My commonsense suggests that a larger contact patch ='s better traction but a gentlman a the auto store says different. Who is right.

they will be worse in the rain... sumimoto doesnt sound like a really good tire brand... i had some sumimoto 245's on my car before and i couldnt get them to stop spinning.

If you are looking for the best traction then you cant go with the cheapest tire. I have Michelin Pilot 335/35/17's on the back of mine and they break loose in third gear at 70 mph on certain pavements and I can get it sideways in second on any street.

RE: 315's better than 275's???
315's wont work on the front, FYI
i dont really care how they perform,, i mean, im pretty sure they can not be worse than what i have now,, which are 245continental extreme contact (hardcore winter tires) that are nearly bald
i am much more interested in that wide aggresive stance,, i just want to know where newcomer found them for 110 bucks,,, thats forty less a piece than discount tire quoted me

RE: 315's better than 275's???
what if you take the same kind of tire... but different width.. 275.. will make a skinnier but longer contact patch... but 315 would make a fatter but shorter contact patch... due to the weight of the car the 275 will put more rubber on the ground right?
