Default Single or twins...and what size(s)

Ok, so my plan right now is to build the motor for running turbos right out of the gate. Im gonna be running somewhere in the area of 8-8.5:1 compression and the trickflow heads with custom turbo cams. My question to all the knowledgable people out there is one, should I go with a twin turbo kit or a single turbo kit to reach between 800-1000rwhp. And two, in regards to your answers, what size turbo(s) would you go with to reach that power goal??? Any turbo I would go with is going to ball bearings in them for quicker spool. And I also maybe running a small shot of nitrous to spool the turbos too if running it pig rich in the bottom end of the powerband doesnt help too much. Im in no position to be doing any of this really soon. Im just trying to get my parts list together and have everything in perspective to know how much im going to spend and what my end results are going to be. So any knowledgable responses are appreciated. Thanks.

Teej

hpperformance uses twins, these are pretty good kits from what i hear so you could just kinda copy their kit all the 4v's they have listed put down 700+, idk the details of your engine but i'd go twins

Well i have heard of ppl running 2 diff sizes. 1 small and one large to achive instant boost starting out and high boost when you are up in the rpm's.

My cooworkers father has a 98 GT with a single 80mm turbo at 23 psi making 993 to the wheels. i have not been able to ride in it yet, but he tells me that it spoons fairly quickly. he said at 3000 rpm he starts making boost. This is with no N2O

I remember BlownSVT (who makes 763whp) saying something about he wishes he woulda
went with twin turbos if he were to do it again instead of his huge single turbo, i could be mistaken, couldn't hurt to shoot him a PM. yes hes a 4v but still to get an idea of why he woulda went TT instead of single.

well its gonna take a big single turbo to get you what you want, let alone the spool time

you could go twin 57's or maby even 62's. two smaller ones will spool faster then one big one and still give you a crazy amount of hp.

and to be honest at 1000rwhp you wont need the juice. if you get a turbo matched properly to your setup. there will be almost no spool and full boost ~3k. let alone the fact you wont even hook on the street with that much hp.

i would also like to chime in and say why are you going for such HP levels? You can run 9s in the 700swhp, less with weight reduction.
You wan't an 8 second car or just a dynosheet to show off?

Ok a single is easier and cheaper, it also makes big numbers with ease. The real difference is not max power between twins and singles, the difference is power band, efficiency. You have to decide what you want. You can get the lag the time to me low if non-existent with either setup, but it all depends on your displacement, turbo size and a/r ratios. Also do you want to make this power on 93 or are you open to running race gas. Given the size of our motors running twin 76's would have serious lag, twin 57's with a .7-.8 ish A/R should be fully spooled by 2800 or so... a twin kit can make that 1000 rwhp you want, if you run race gas. The twins will have a better power band for somebody who wants to drive on the street, but a well chosen single can get it done to, but you'll have to be realistic in your power goals. People who tell you they make over 1000 rwhp on there daily drivers also have some beach front property in Arizona to sell you to. There is so much that goes into this that we can't cover all the bases for you, just search the forums and svtperformance.com to figure out what you want. I would go with BB turbos, but the fluids are cheaper to buy and easier to rebuild
