auto guys....
I blew up my tranny this past fall the first day after getting my turbo installed and I only had about 390/460 to the wheels. I'm most likely just going to rebuild my transmission until I come up with the money the build it. My question is though how much power are you guys running through your transmission without having any problems?
Please only post if you have over 400 hp because I know it can handle the lower numbers.

8 lbs.
Previously I had nitrous and sprayed it through over drive once and ever since then my transmission has never been the same. It didn't shift nearly as hard as it did previously before that. Then the day I had my turbo put on. I got on it quite a few times when I left the shop. It was fine at first besides the slow shifting. Then on my way back to my house I noticed something didn't feel right. So when I got home I just parked it and went to work for about 7 hours then came back and started it up and drove it around the block a dew times to see if it felt better and it did, so I took it out again. I gave a few people rides giving about a 15 minute break between rides. Then on my last ride my car just started free reving.
So obviously now I'm going to get a massive trans cooler and trans temp gauge, but I was just wondering what people run there cars at with the stock 4r70w because I thought these transmissions were good for 500 hp and I was told the torque converters are the bad part of our setup.

I'm running an AODE with 4r70w internals.Although I don't know how much power I am putting out, I'd guess it would be close to 400rwhp with my set up. I am running a Trickflow H/C/I and Vortech pushing out 14lbs of boost and the transmission has been holding up fine. I bought the transmission from a guy who was also running a blower, so it's seen it's share of abuse. Nonetheless, I have not had any gripes....yet. Also, they can handle of 700lb-ft trq("70" stands for) so it's a very potent transmission. Anyway, a cooler would be a must, as the number one cause for transmission failure is heat.

Thanks for responces. Keep them coming especially if you have a stock trans with some power and how long you've had that power.
I'm definitly getting a rebuild kit, but I have a friend that can get me one for 150 bucks from transtar. Also definitly getting a cooler this time too. Then instead of doing a shift kit I'm just going to do a jmod.

Your trans is a time bomb. Once I hit HIGH Hp numbers I'm switching to an Auto with a good stall. But around 560 I'm sticking with a Promotion T-45. If I feel froggy and have some extra cash next summer I may go to a Viper spec T-56 from D&D.
