Default New x-pipe - cats or no cats????

Looking at the BBK x-pipe kit, for my 1997 Mustang GT 5spd, and wondering if i need to get the cats, or if i can use the off road no cats section? The car will have the PI swap done (stock cams), 4:10gears, BBK shorty headers, BBK 78MM intake plenium/throttle body combo, BBK CAI, SLP loud mouth cat back system, BBK UD pulleys, and in the near future i plan on getting new cams also, so can i run the off road no cat section or do i need to buy the x-pipe with cats?

You dont NEED the cats unless you need them for inspection for your state. Going catless will make the car ALLOT louder though, if you have LM1s, with no cats, it will be VERY VERY VERY VERY LOUD. I have LM2s with an o/r x and its quite loud.

Ok thanks guys, i wasnt sure, not having the cats would mess up the back pressure, making the motor loose power! But thanks again!

back pressure is a misconception, so don't worry too much about that, although, running catless with LM's will be really loud

i hade LM1s on my GT and i decided "hey let me put this o/r x i got for $80 and see wats up.".....bad idea. personally i hated it it was WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY too loud, but if you're into that kind of thing then go for it. i took it off not 20 mins later and put the stock back on. and now i have wat u see in my sig. so if ur 1000000000% sure on the LM1's go catted.

I wanted my car loud so I got the offroad X, and I really like it.

It's not just noise, it's the overall sound of the O/R pipes with LM1s. When I did mine it started to chatter at about 2000 RPM unless I was getting on it. Go with the catted midpipe.
