Could it be the floater arm?

I filled my tank today and drove home , when I pulled into the garage, I cut the engine and got out, I heard a weird sound and traced it to the fuel door. I opened the door and took the gas cap off slowly incase it was under pressure, nothing.. Just the noise.. It stopped a few minutes later.. Does anyone know if the 98 had any issues with the floater arm becoming misaligned or having issues , could it be anything else? Thanks!
