Default Shortblock dilemma....help plz

hey guys im going to be in the process of replacing my heads and cams for pp stage 2 heads and stage 2.5 blower cams soon and i figured i might as well get a new shortblock while im at it. Here is the dilemma, eventually im going back to cali and ill have to stick to the 8 psi pulley and be very limited with the power levels and i was wondering if i should just get the MMR mod600? What bothers me is that it will still have the cast crank but i heard they are pretty strong up to 600 hp? I think my total goal will be the heads, cams, maybe some JBA shorties (carb legal) and thats it as far as power. Do you think i will be ok with this shortblock? I just figured id spend the difference and upgrade other stuff on the block (some options that they have on their website). Thanks for any input.

Dave

yes i think you will be fine. where are you getting the shortblock?? and this is off topic, but why do you have to go back to the 8 psi pulley? i thought as long as you can pass emisions, you could do what ever you wanted?

im buying it from modularmustangracing.com. Well im sorry i miss worded it because i actually have the 8 psi pulley right now but if i were to go up while im in NC i have to go back to it because in the CARB specifications it said that the P1SC blower is carb legal only as long as i use the 8 psi pulley. Im sure there are ways around it but im gonna try to stick with it for a while. Thanks for the input...anyone else?

dumb question, sorry didn't notice you had wrote MMR 600. honestly, if you are going to get a new short block from mmr, you mind as well get the mmr 800 or 900. i dont know what you funding is but it is only a couple hundred more.

mmr 600 = $2249
mmr 800 = $2599
mmr 900 = $2699

just to be safe. hate to see you spend oaa the money and something go wrong and ruin it. better to be safe than sorry. I am suppose to recieve my MMR 900 tomorrow

Total price with shipping and having the pistons notched so i could run a stage 2+ blower cam was $3200 to the door.
This was also with upgraded side bolts and mainstuds.
evrything so that the engine will be rated for at least 900 RWHP

i see well the reason why i was thinking about saving some money was because i still have to buy head gaskets, headstuds, cam gears, etc. haha it all adds up. My first choice was the mod 800. I called up there and they told me that to ship it from cali to NC where im at is like 310 bucks. Im supposed to have about 2500 back from taxes so ill have to add some to it. Hey let me know how ur block holds Tim.
