The intake doesn't have to come off. Just remove the pulley and take off the bolts holding it on. Coolant will come out, but just stick a drain pan under it.

As far as wiring, I've heard it's pretty simple, but haven't done it personally, so I can't give you a definate answer.

I'v replaced the water pump on my 98 before and no, the intake manifold does not need to come off. You need to remove the alternator and water pump pulley, and then you should have plenty of room.

No idea on the electrics.

It took me about 30min to install mine. Just remove the belt, remove the waterpump pulley, remove the water pump (hardly any coolant comes out) then install the new one in reverse order. Make sure you get a new gasket for it. For the wiring I grounded it with the fuel rail bolt and tapped the 12v switch source into the fuel pump signal wire in the engine bay.

Your friends on crack.

Install of even the electric one(that helps horsepower/MPG) doesn't even require removal of the intake manifold.

-Remove drive belt
-Remove old
-Put in electric
-Replace belt
-Wire harness

I'm thinking your car will stop itself long before it overheats and seizes. If you don't notice the engine temp., coolant light, and check engine lights all flashing in your face.

I haven't been to a dyno, so I can't say how much horsepower it added. It did add enough for a bit of a "kick." Kind of like when you turn off your A/C.

I did notice my engine running cooler around town, and a few extra miles out of each tank of gas.

The earlier Meziere electric pumps had problems with O rings failing, uspposedly that was fixed in the new revisions. From what I have seen you get the same HP gains from an electric WP as you get from a good set of UDPs. Around 10 hp or so.
