I have seen all these other cheaper kits come back out, they just don't lock into the head well enough long term. I would only use Lock N Stitch or Timesert myself. Here is a picture of the amount of shavings from a Timesert for a single plug, makes you wonder if you really want to do this on the car.
Also the chances of you getting the depth of the insert located perfectly correct with the head on the car is maybe 1 in 10 unless you really knew what you were doing.

i must be one lucky sumbitch, i didn't even read up too much on it and i got it idk if it was perfect but it was close, and i sure as hell didn't know what i was doing going into it. I never did anything else remotely close. Also my kit kept the sparkplug in for a few thousand miles then i took the car off the road for my rebuild and because sensors kept failing which is completely unrelated. it may have been time-cert i used but i just remember, the punch, the tap and 3 inserts.
It's these stories that make me scared of changing out my spark plugs even though I know it's long overdue. Any chances a local car shop would be competent enough to torque the plugs correctly?
