I just bought a 2000 GT auto thats all stock and I am very happy with it so far, except for one issue.

-If I put in down in 1 and try to manually shift it to 2 at WOT, it won't shift, it just hits the rev limiter.
-BUT, if I manually shift it from 1 to 2 at part throttle, it works perfect.
-Also, if I leave it in D, it shifts fine at WOT. What could the problem be?

The car is all stock, and it will be my DD now so it isnt going to be driven hard, but I don't want any small problems to turn into bigger ones. Also, I was told that this is normal and a shift kit would fix it, but to be honest, I bought this car so I would quit modding my foxbody, so I dont really want to mess with this car yet either. Thanks for any input

its normal . it takes time from when the shift is commanded to when it actually shifts . if your gonna manually shift , than shift to 2nd around 5400-5500rpm . there's no gain when manually shifting . if your racing , leave it in drive . a shift kit or j-mod will help . first thing you should get though is a trans cooler .

Get a shift kit and/or chip 4.10 gears and leave it alone.

That tranny can't take it, and you will dump it.

I went through 2 of them on my previous AODE 02 GT.

And get a tranny cooler, it will help a little
