Take a look at your rear brakes/rotors, you might have just bbeat the hell out of your brakes or put a lip or ripple in your rotors. You know theres a bright red light that says, "(BREAK)" on the dash right?
Did you go OVER the redline, or did it just stop at 5800 RPM? Theres a bit of give to these engines, probably a good 200 rpm before things start flaking on you.

First of all, I will bet you $500 that there is NO such "BREAK" light on your dash. I will then bet you another $500 that there IS a "BRAKE" light on your dash.

First, you may not even have to replace the brakes. You may have just added a 10,000-20,000 miles of wear on them. Second, if you are not hearing any loud knocking noises from your motor then breifly redlining it probably didn't cause any damage. Drive conservative for a while to get your confidence back and chalk this one up to lessons learned.

You motor has a rev limiter (I believe its ~6250) and hitting the rev limiter for a few seconds wont hurt a thing. Hell my Cobra had the rev limiter somewhere around 7100 and I'd occasionally bounce off it.. Its there to stop damage from happening, not causing it

My theory is beating once in awhile is good for it. (not over revving it....)
Beating all the time is stupid, and causes things to break.....
I had a supercharged 5.0, the gas pedal stuck to the carpet one time (not cool) it redlined for about 3 secs and I mean buried the tac. And I drove it for another 2 years without any problems.

Well dont worry about the brakes getting worn, cause there were no brakes left when we got it inspected before i sold it haha
Thats funny tho man, dont worry everyone has atleast one dumbstory to tell about their first manual
