Default Need Clock Spring Advice

I did a motor swap and put long tubes on my car, I had to pull the steering shaft off and a buddy of mine got bored and started turning the wheel, since it got move I have heard that I need to replace the clock spring or my airbags could blow if I turn my wheels too far, anybody know if this is true?

i would think as long as u kept the steering wheel on the shaft u SHOULD be alright, from what i've heard if u remove the steering wheel then ur screwed....lol

also im pretty sure that if the clock spring is broken the air bags WILL NOT BLOW ever untill u replace that spring but don't hold me to that

Well, if the steering shaft was on or not you can still turn the wheel too far and break the ribbon. I think its 2 1/2 turns each side... As long as he wasnt spinning it like crazy then you should be good. If the ribbon broke, you'd have an airbag light on instantly. And removing the steering wheel isnt any different than moving the shaft too much with it unhooked from the rack. It wont instantly break. The clockspring is behind the wheel.
