vortech supercharger?
i got an 01 mustang gt with sum basic mods, but im looking to supercharge it soon, i was considering the new vortech v-3 but i saw a new or slightly new v-1 or v-2 on ebay forr bout a 500 cheaper, but im a little leary on drilling into my pan for the oil inlet and return. could anyone help me on which would be the better set up in the long run as well as how hard it would be to drill, thread and run the inlet and return lines for a v-1 or v-2. any advice would be greatly appriciated.

There's a nice sticky in the pipes / boost / juice section on how to build a $1500 kit which is based on a Vortech V1 / V2 Setup. You could buy the brackets and oil lines, etc. from superchargersonline.com and try and find the best deal on just a head unit elsewhere...
I'm looking at doing this right now myself. Good luck

Also, the V3 is self contained, but I don't know how much of a pain changing the oil in the head unit would be. The V1 / V2 are convenient since you just change your oil like normal. If you dont want to drill the oil pan, I know summitracing and some other sites have pans with a manufactured hole for these applications.
I've been trying to find out the real difference between the v1 and 2, and so far, all i see is that the v2 has 3% higher peak efficiency (whatever the F.. that means) And that it has curved blades compared to the v1s straight. The V1 is louder, the v2 produces boost slightly faster. V1 is arguably more durable...

punching the oil and tapping the pan really isn't that big of a deal.... and it's only something you have to deal with once. As long as you change your engine oil regularly, you shouldn't have a problem.
The real down fall in my eyes is if you pop an engine. You have a chance of getting metal savings in the s/c from the oil feed line.

I just installed a V2. Punching the oil pan is super easy. Plus, our cars already have a port for the oil supply line.
I bought a cheap used unit and sent it back to Vortech for a rebuild.
I thought about getting a different oil pan, but that looks like a hard job to get it out and install a new one. Plus it was a couple hundred bucks.
Regardless of which supercharger you buy, you'll have fun once it's installed.
