Verify Timing Set Correctly. 4.6 PICTURES

I'm also thinking about replacing the oil pump while I got it taken apart. Just in case it had something to do with the origional tensioner/guide problem. The top guide bolt hole bracket was broken so the passenger guide was getting ground down and letting the chain slap around a little.

Well.. it's still making the ticking noise at "idle". Once you start it up, the sound doesn't start until about 10 seconds later. And I also don't notice the noise after you give the car any throttle.
Here is a sound clip.

The car doesn't have any misses, or stumbles and runs great. All the gauges are good and the power is the same as before.
Could this be a lifter? Or worse?
If it is a bent valve it wouldn't run right would it?

yea i would check that. Did u ever look at one of the stickies about "How to fix ur ticking 4.6" or something like that. Just throwing it out there cause i guess these cars do have those problems sometime down the road

Safe mode is 12, 3, 6, and 9 oclock. The passenger side mark on the gear should be more to the right then the driver side. You have it the other way around. Don't start that car anymore cause you are slamming the pistons into the valves. I can tell in the video since the knocking is half the speed of the engine. You now have bent valves and gouged pistons. Sorry man. Didn;t you spin the engine by hand first?

Hmmm
The car only makes the ticking noise at idle. I did check the PTV clearance by spinning the crank several times with a ratchet before starting it up.
I'm pulling the valve covers today and checking the HLA, hoping one of them is making the ticking.
If it was a valve hitting a piston it wouldn't run correctly would it? The car doesn't miss, skip or backfire. Runs very smooth while driving at all rpms.
Just when the car comes to a stop I hear the ticking noise. Giving any throttle makes it go away, or so low you could barely hear it.
If you have the dot's on the crank and cams, is it possible to have it out of time?

It's probably one of your timing chaing tensiors, mine ticked when I did mine, It sounded sort of like a diesel truck.
You should probably replace them asap if that turns out to be the issue.
