Default UCA and LCA install - how hard?

So I was wondering.....on a scale of 1 (easy) to 10 (very hard)....how hard is it to install upper control arms and lower control arms (aftermarket ones)? is this a do it yourself project or should you leave it to a tech?

Do you need a lift to do it? Post up with your experience if anyone here has done it.

Thanks!

be sure to adjust the aftermarket UCAs so that they are the same length as the stockers.

^ Not necessarily true

If your car is lowered, and I know The Gloos car is, you may want to adjust it a little shorter than stock to compensate for their decreased angle from stock. Also, if you have NOT purchased the UCA's/LCA's yet, pick up a set from UPR (look back a day or so and see some links I put up on another thread). I recommend you DON'T go with poly/poly bushings as they do not allow proper articulation of rear axle and MUCH better served by a poly/spherical ended one. The LCA should have the spherical end on the torque-box end, IMO, as articulation will not be fighting the sway bar that way.

EDIT: I found the ***LINK*** from yesterday

PS. Thank you Gloo for the heads up on the T-56 recommendation. If you look on the top of the 4.6 Modular page, you will see my install as a sticky

I did the install with just myself, well just the lca's for now. It was about a medium for an install. I got the J&M lca's and I did the install/write up for Americanmuscle. Just go to their site and look up the J&M lca's 99-04's . The uca's i don't think would be much harder just a tight space.

PITA #7-8...
I tried and failed last fall.
I got Ford Racing uppers amd and CHE lowers.
I tried it by myself, and with only a jack that I could only get my rear end 15"-18" off the ground and only 10"-12" on the floor boards by the front LCA bolts. I didn't have enough room to get any kind of leaverage with the tools, and I didn't have enough room to get my air tools in postion for the lower arms because the floor wasn't high enough for me to get the tools into position etc.
If I had another person and lift it would have been much better.
Needless to say I only got my lowering springs and new shocks in. I'll try again when the weather is better and I can get to my buddies house who has a lift.
Good luck.

Thanks for the heads up so far everyone! I'm just getting an idea on improving traction for the future.....

It sounds like I might leave it to the pros.

Put in UMI UCA and LCA in about 3 hours in the driveway with a floor jack...I wouldn't recommend doing it that way.
