I am torn between the Steeda Tri Ax and the MGW. How much does the MGW run, and does anyone have any comparison data btwn the 2?

I have found it comes down to how you shift. A lot of people have complained about missing third with MGWs. When you ask them how they shift the response is the hold the ball in a fist. That is usually the problem because now you are trying to guide the shift.

I have found, starting with my Honda because they have the same 2-3 issues, is not to hold the **** at all. I just use the palm of my hand, palm it 1-2, palm the 2-3, palm the 3-4. Never missed 3rd with my MGW and the shifter and tranny guide the stick into the next gear.

I can go through the gears from 1st to 5th and back in about 3 seconds palming the shifter and it takes me 5seconds holding the shifter.

Good luck. I have one in my Cobra and finding third gear is pratically impossible when you're in a hurry. I loved my Pro 5.0! I really dont like the MGW at all.
Yeah, I see what you mean. I palm it as well and just thrust it into gear, instead of guiding it. Don't miss third either.

I kinda agree. The centering spring should do the work going into 3rd. Don't grab that shifter coming out of 2nd, just push that joker up into 3rd. AT least that's how it is with my Tri-Ax.

My tranny makes noise in 4th gear at certain RPM's and that's it. I think it because of the Tri-Ax is directly linked with no rubber OEM crap bushings. I would think that any other shifter in MY GT's tranny would sound similar. I never though it was due to the shfiter. Maybe others have rubber noise isolators similar to OEM? Anyway, yes, my GT and Tri-Ax do make a little noise. Only annoying in 4th like cruising slow in very mild RPM situation like 35 MPH down a main street.

i think the guy commenting about missing third was talking about downshifting...i think [sm=smiley13.gif]

because I know that sometimes when i come from 4 to 3 i second guess myself as to whether or not i got it to 3 or 1.

but I still love the MGW...shifts awesome everytime, precise, firm shifts.

With the Tri-AX, you just 'push' it into 3rd whether you are shifting up from 2nd or down from 4th. The spring aligns it into the 3-4 slot and if you are gripping or grasping you may be fighting the spring. Not sure if the other shifters feel this way. Crap, with the OEM shifter, you couldn't quite tell where you were at half the time!

So do you ever miss 3rd when downshifting?

<Edit> & What do they run + where is the best place to buy?
