How to quiet down my O/R H pipe?
#21
So I'm looking at MAC's I guess haha, one last question I swear!! Someone just told me the O/R pipe can hurt my engine compression ratio? True? I don't think so being that so many people have O/R pipes, or do I need a tune to fix that? I don't know but I'm always eager to learn.
no that's not going to happen.'
Getting a tune for performance is always a good idea but not because your midpipe messed up your compression ratio

+1 there is absolutely nothing in your exhaust that can effect your compression ratio in any way.
And the reason you see a lot of civics with big tips and a black stuff on their paint around the tip is because the car is either a piece of crap that is burning oil, or they have a turbo and they are running a little bit rich.

back pressure wont effect your compression ratio if that is what you are jokingly implying, (I don't want to confuse the new guy)
also I love you lmao
PS EDIT: back pressure is a myth, some people say if don't have enough back pressure you will lose torque but it is a myth.
You always do want to get the exhaust gases out of the cylinder as fast as possible but putting a 4" pipe on your car is not necessarily how to do it. you want to optimize the scavenging effect so using a correctly sized exhaust pipe with a high flow muffler and a good crossover is the best way to go.
also I love you lmao

The service engine light just came on.. I guess I'll plug the mills back in, I hope it doesn't smoke as much as it did before. This morning when I went to start it up for work, It sounded like it had cams for a few seconds..... is that what you guys mean by back pressure? lol
