4.6L /auto. will motor bolt to 5 speed from a V6
Hi guys
Found a 99 doner gt doner car 4.6L auto tranny I have a 02 v6 and want to do a swap! Will 5 speed V6 tranny bolt up to the 4.6 L motor. If so how do a V6 and V8 5 speed Differ? I dont race or even drive hard. Just some highway miles to work! thanks guys! ken |
The trannys for the 4.6L and 3.8L differ. The 3.8L uses a T5 and the 4.6L uses a t45 or t3650 depending on the year model. The T5 will not bolt up to a 4.6L engine.

One other issue is that even the late model V-6 T-5's are only rated for 300 lbft input torque (there was apparently Cobra spec T-5 rated at 310). Even a dead-stock PI 4.6 wil be right up against this limit. |
sorry its a no go

you wanna sell the automatic stuff off the donor car?

if you're looking for auto, my friend sells his auto tranny and auto driveshaft from his 98GT
