Default pi intake on npi motor

i cracked the intake on my 96 and looking for a new intake,i saw the sticky about how to put a pi intake on a npi motor and would like to do it.

anyone do this? what did u need?how much did it cost?(besides the pi intake) anyone make a kit? its seems like half the stuff in the sticky isnt needed.

i also saw an aftermarket intake on ebay for the 96-98 like the pi for $300 but dont really wanna spend that much.
im gonna try to get a pi intake from the junkyard or a used one on ebay.

also how was the performance gain? worth the hassle?
no pi heads arent an option im broke and dont wanna do all that work.

I'm not %100 on this....
But is the Cracked Intake not a Warranty Repair, now due to the Class Action Law suit against the FoMoCo?
Call your local dealership and simply inquire. Could be free?
If not then I'm simply retarded..
I just remember a sticky somewhere around here about the Suit and it's progress.

I think his car is too old to be covered. I am pretty sure you are gonna have to drill hole for a 2nd sensor on the pi intake

you need a 99-04 heater tube and water pump nipple (40 bucks) for both
PI intake man 200 bucks
gaskets 40 bucks
and a drill and tap for the sensor, tap was 8 bucks for me at the hardware store

290 bucks for the PI and 300 for the NPI with no hp gain

I didnt notice a gain from my swap for just the intake, I did the PI heads cams and intake with BBK shorties.(I just know I gained something )

its a easy swap even if you arent very mechanically inclined.

easy as hell to do this swap. you can get pi intakes for cheap on ebay like 60-100 bucks. then you need to buy the pi water pump nipple/coolant hose that runs under the intake. on my car i didn't need to replace the nipple it already had the proper one on it. so i have the pi nipple lying around somewhere if u are interested. you may not need it either. some 98's came with the new pi nipple some didn't. then u have to buy the pi intake gaskets. (pi/npi both work for the swap. i used pi because it seemed like it fit better.) very straight foward swap all you need is alittle rtv sealant around the coolant passages and ur good. ull see where the gaskets around these passgaes don't match up. this is where u need the rtv. other than that u are looked at a 140 dollar job.

where did you get your heater tube, pump nipple and gaskets?
what size tap?

i found a pi intake on ebay with injectors and fuel rails still on it with 18k on it
ill probably buy that and get the heater tube, pump nipple, gaskets and tap it for the sensor.

I bought it from LRS (latemodelrestoration.com) the tap was a 3/8-18 NPSF if you cant find one at the hardware store try ebay or some tool website and order one for around 8 bucks

pump nipple http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS

Heater tube http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS

correct me if I am wrong but isnt the injectors on the PI engine bigger than the NPI?

gasket http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS
