Seafoam Question
 

I'm going to be putting Seafoam in my car soon. I know 1/3 goes in the gas tank, 1/3 in the crankcase and the last 1/3 goes in the intake manifold. For the intake manifold part, what/which line should I use to suck the seafoam out of a cup with? Thanks.

The line that goes from the intake to the brake booster. Oh, and just to let you know, don't put Seafoam into your crankcase unless you are going to change the oil right after you drive it with it in there.

I've heard from friends that it works really well. I second the don't run it in your crankcase too long. I've seen threads in other forums about seafoam and most people buy some really cheap oil to go with it run it for a short time and then change their oil back to their good oil.

Many will swear by that stuff, but i say it's nothing more that sh*t that i wouldn't put in my car.

i tried it on my old jeep and noticed nothing different. my old room mate tried it on his cbr f3 bike and he said it was much easier to wheelie the bike afterward, so its up to you to decide.

ive only ever done it through the vacuum lines, never into the gas or oil

You'd get more benefit from running Royal Purple for 500-1000 miles and changing your oil.

What does Seafoam do? I've never heard of this?

Seafoam is an additive you can supposedly use to clean old carboned up engines.

Ive seen people use it and it removes carbon i have to admit but at what cost to your O2's,cats and any other sensor it may come in contact with.

Now i have and regularly use it to soak carb parts that are dirty when rebuilding them.

As for using it in the crank case i would never recommend using anything that thins the oil out like seafoam or that other motor flush crap.If you were really in need of cleaning an engine through the crankcase run a half quart of tranny fluid.It has a very high concentration of detergents in it.But remember as youre breaking that trash in the engine loose its going through your pickup,oil pump,valvetrain,mains,rods.

This is where regular maintenence comes into play.Change your oil and do tune ups regularly and you wont need a "MECHANIC IN A CAN".

I guess I won't use it then. I change my oil every 2,000-2,500 miles. (that's about how much I drive it each year in the spring/summer) I use mobil 1 full synthetic. I guess i'll be ok with out SF then. Thanks. =D
