Default Question about PI swap

Say I wanted to do a full PI swap, would I be able to get the parts of a Crown Vic? My dad's in the state police, and might be able to get me parts for really cheap. I know they have the PI intakes, and they fit my 96 Mustang. Anyone know about other parts?

just get the intake and the heads along with the valve covers. have all the parts cleaned up and inspected before you install them. just make sure they are pi parts, you can easily tell from the intake port shape. you will just need a gasket kit and a new timing set.

Should I worry about getting a new camshaft too? Also, how much do you think it will run me labor wise?

you definitely need the pi cams, just take the complete head set. if you plan on having on someone do it for you that would vary depending on where you live and who you know. you are just going to have to ask around. you should get your car tuned and maybe drop in some lt headers if your budget allows and you plan on doing that later on. are you planning on getting some head work done while the heads are out?

As much as I'd love to get some LT's on there, they aren't in my budget right now. The only reason I'm really thinking about doing the PI swap is because I can get the parts for cheap, and my intake manifold cracked, so I was getting a new intake anyway. Not sure about getting some head work done, I don't really know of anyone around here that will do it.

The crap that I'm reading on here lately is absurd.

Read some stickies guys, seriously.

And NPI engines were in Crown Vics till 00 and some early 01's.

that is why i said take a look at the intake ports
any auto machine shop should be able to inspect your heads you plan on swapping and possible a gasket match port with a valve job and install new valve seals. if you look at some patriot or fox lake ported heads you will notice that they have the shroud over the intake valve in the combustion chamber removed. doing this will help you slightly lower you c/r since adding pi heads to a non pi engine will raise it to approx 10.0:1 according to the ford racing catalog.
