Fuel Gauge Acting Weird??

Fuel Gauge Acting Weird??
I was driving home from class the other day with my lights off (it was day time) and i looked down at my fuel gauge and for some reason the 3/4 line was glowing green. . . some time passed and it went away, then the half line was glowing green. . . that went away and it went back to 3/4 and then 1/4. . . whats up with that
