Default I want to learn

Hey guys,
I am new here and was wondering if you guys could help me with something. I have always really liked mustangs ever since I was little but now I want to learn about the mechanics of them. In paticular the 4.6l. i was wondering if there is a diagram, or something that would teach me about this engine, or if there is something that could just help me learn about v8s in general???

Thanks,
Tyler

You should learn about how engines work in general if you don't know already, then if you want specific info about the internals of the 4.6 you can get a repair manual for the specs and parts breakdown of the entire engine. If you want more info about the performance part of it then troll around the boards reading olds posts and asking questions will get you there. Sean Hyland wrote a book "How to build a high performance 4.6" or something like that. Its a good read for a beginner but doesn't give much real-world info.

The best way is to hang out with someone who can show you the ropes, because theirs a difference between reading it in a book and actually doing it.

What about those clear v8 models that you can buy, would that help me to start understanding, or is there no substitute for hanging out in a shop?

when I bought my car 9 months ago some guy told me my car had 450 HP and I actually believed him. I didn't even know what an intake manifold was. www.howstuffworks.com thats a great resource for different parts of cars. And stick around these forums and just read. Eventually it will all start snapping together.
