Default 96 GT 4.6 Harmonic balancer on 2001 block?

Does anyone know of any issues with using the 96 harmonic balancer and fly wheel on the 01 block?

I swapped out my 96 short block for a 2001 short block and PI heads. I used the 96 harmonic balancer figuring it would work just fine on the newer crank since they are both neutrally balanced, although the 96 is 5.8lbs and the 8.95lbs. Almost a month after the install the car is running great with lots of power but it started making a faint cherping sound from idle to about 2000 RPM and about a minute after start up. It speeds up in relation to the RPMs, sounds internal, and loudest under the car near the bell houseing. The idle is roungh but then I do have comp cams (270's).

Does this issue sound fimilar to anyone?
