Default Pi Swap...This sux !

Oh man, me and like 3-5 friends w/ decent car knowledge have been doing this for 2 days now. Roughly about 14-15 hours into it and all we have dont is motor on the stand, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate off. Which those are easy, manifold is off, headers is off. Its not prepped for the heads yet. There have been so many lil problems we have run into. The power steering pulley sucked. The puller didnt even work we got from autozone, we just used wd-40 and swung at it w/ a hamer. The hamer seems to be the ford tool. Im startin to doubt this swap is worth it. So all you PI swapped guys gimme a lil boost ! Im down about my stang

If you had all the correct tools it wouldnt be so bad... im doing mine in car. I dont really see the point of yanking engine. But keep on pushing you'll be happy with the outcome. And yes the Special service tool for all FORDS is a large hammer, and if that doesnt work get a bigger hammer.

HAHA, the hamer. Yeah honestly i didnt have all the tools, must of them tho. Im changing the clutch thats why we pulled it. How much honest power does the PI heads, PI cams, and PI intake w/ a great tune all together add?

You will gain a good 60 hp at the very least. With a good tune and good cams (not sure about the stock PI ones) you could be pushing 90 hp. Once you put your foot on the gas, it will be all worth it my friend.....or so they tell me--I drive a 96 gt vert. LOL. I ENVY YOU!!!

Wear did you get this information from, because the place i got the heads from said just the heads will do about 45-50 and ive heard the manifold can do about 15. But SHM says just the heads and intake do 50. Then there was another sight that said 80hp for the entire swap. So im just confused.

Oh the power stering pulley i remember that, you should have purchased some racheting wrenches, you just go thrue the pulley and slowly take out the last bolt on the power stering pump thats what i did and it worked great.

I did the whole swap by my self with the engine in the car and i could not have done it without a good selection of rachet wrenches.

If you have any problems PM me and i will try to help.

thats what i would say. althought i don't have a PI swap, i figure it should net you about 60HP. but if you look on ebay where a bunch of people sell the PI head they say with the PI swap you will see up to 75 HP, but they are gonna exagerate a little because they want to sell the heads

Well no one has said i'll be above 300 RWHP after the swap. W/ all my mods. So thats why im not sure. Ive heard i can do about 325 at the crank. Hey 96mustanggt46 the only thing left i need to know is like how to time the chains and cams together. The manual tells how but im just really unsure?? Think you could expalin it, or if you have pictures or anything. Also how should i lub the heads before i put them in and mine cam w/ the cams in them so are they ready to just be put in ? if you have some pictures or info on the timing you could email me at andy_hbk1@hotmail.com if you dont want to thats fine just post it on here.
