Default Question on used gears

A buddy of mine who lives down the street has a set of used 4.10s he is taking out of his Mach1. He said I could have them for cheap if I want. I just wanted to get some opinions from you guys here on used gears and whether I should be worried about anything or not.

What's his definition of cheap? I would buy them for $125 after I had them inspected first. Otherwise, I'd just say screw it and buy new ones.

you can get ford racing gears for 150 new so i wouldn't spend that much for a used set

Cheap would be 50-75 bucks as long as you aren't missing any teeth and gears don't look worn it would be a no brainer. What kind of gears?

have him take you for a ride in his car and make sure that there is no gear noise. after he pulls them out inspect them for damage. if all checks out ok, offer him $50.
