Default Ready to do gears.... Question about Speedo

So im finally getting my gears done... Its about time!

Anyways, im a college student so i do not have a lot of cash flow. Im trying to find a way to avoid buying the tuner along with the gears while getting my speedo fixed.

I plan on getting a tuner, its just that gears + install + tuner is a nice chunk of change...

Anyways what are my options for fixing my speedo?

Its an automatic so the speedcal is not going to work (overpriced anyways)

I was thinking, could a dealership fix it? Anyone have any idea on price for it?

If i had a friend with a handheld, could they fix my speedo without locking the tuner to my car?

Im just trying to explore my options here... Thanks in advance for the tips.

buy a tuner.... a stealership will charge you 100 bucks... you might as well throw a hundred dollar bill away

I hear some pretty bad stories about the handheld tuner's "box tunes" especially the ones from AM. I dont know if i want to chance running lean until i decide to dyno tune it...

You can pick up a used tuner for around $200. There are members here that are trying to get rid of them because they've upgraded to the sniper software. If you're getting gears, the hand held tuner will be your best bet since you're on a budget.

honestly i have a tune from AM, and havent had any problems with it... with an auto, it will be a huge difference if you get it tuned

I always hear how sniper is far superior, however i plan to top my car off with a dyno tune so it wont really matter.

So there is no cheap way to fix my speedo? I was afraid not..

If the dealership could fix it for 100 bucks, wouldn't that in turn be much cheaper than buying a tuner, new or used?
