Default Clutch burning?

Ok, well just tonight I was driving the stang around real hard and smelled my clutch burning[:@] It was weird cause I launched hard in first and hit second hard, but the damn thing didn't grab......the rpms were way up but it didn't feel like the tires were spinning and the car wasn't really going anywhere[&:] I'm a little confused as to what the hell that was all about....any guesses would be appreciated. Could it be my clutch cable? Also is powershifting bad for the clutch?? I only do it sometimes from 2nd to 3rd gear.[]

Power Shifiting = bad for EVERYTHING

Basically your clutch didn't grab and you spun it on the flywheel. I did it with my honda and my cluctch lasted another 10,000miles

yeah when the rpms go up and the car doesnt go anywhere that means the clutch is slipping. Which is bad, prolly time for a new one.

Did you break in in properly or did you just start driving it hard right out of the Garage? What type of clutch is it?

Steel flywheel or aluminum? If its a performance clutch and it goes bad then there is gonna be absolutly no luck in getting your money back because performance parts are never warrantied.

I had shop re-surface my stock fly-wheel. Is that bad?? Should I have also bought a new flywheel?

Well it all depends. If the old flywheel wasnt beyond the tolerance level of a resurface then not. They should have measured it to see if it could handle getting turned. Most of the time flywheels wont handle more than one or two turns before they are no good.

Well it should have been okay then. That was the first time the clutch/flywheel had been touched since the car was made. I haven't driven it hard today, but it feels pretty normal. I'm skerd to go beat on it now[]
