Default ByPass Question

Friday night I opened her up from 80mph to 150mph up a hill for about 1 mile. I went to start her up on saterday morroning and she was reving at 200rpm and there was smoke coming from the exhaust. I shut her off. I opened the hood and I could not believe what I sow. I blow the bypass valve right off. The bolts that hold the bypass on were guin. I had it fixed saterday but I wanted to know could there be motor damaged and has this happened to anybody before. She sound and runs fine now. The guy that works on my car said he has never hear of anybody blowing the bypass valve off and I have never hear of it too. That's what I get for driving at full boast up a hill for 1 mile

I did not take a picture of it but this is the bypass valve. There is 2 bolts that holed it on. In the picture you can see the top one.

That is actually the IAC valve (Idle Air Control)..........that is what is causing the 200 rpm iddling problem. I've never heard of a BYPASS Valve

Sorry maybe it is the IAC valve. Why would it blow off like it did. I've had the s/c for 3 years and that was the first time I kept it at full boast for 1 mile in 4 and 5 gear?

Thanks

That is the IAC and the plug on top of it is referred to as the IAC bypass sensor. If you blew it off then it should have immediatly messed with the idle. But if its running fine after the replacement is installed then I would say you probably didnt sustain any significant damage.

The hole silver part came right off. It was lieing on the fuel rail. All I had to do is get two new boilts to put it back on. I did not replace any parts.
