Default Need Help! 96 GT, not running strong..

1st Day Post.. Just bought the car..
96 Mustang GT, Convert. 5 spd
160,000 miles
all stock except
Some kinda dirty lookin fender cold air kit+
Flowmaster Muffler
A old lady owned the car, and it appeared she didnt take good care of it. Although It came with brand new tires and new brakes and rotors

Hello, I searched the forum and couldnt come to any conclusions so I decided to post. When you start the car it sounds great. I noticed that the throttle response was kinda slow and it seems that it may have a slight miss at 4k. As soon as I drove the car, I wasnt impressed at all. It does ok until 3k then it feels like something is holding it back. and I put the car in 3rd gear, going slow to put a strain on the motor.. When I floored it, it was missing pretty bad.. Another friend told me he guarantee's its the filter and MAF.. Im thinking its that or maybe a fuel pump, but I donno.. Im gonna start my ideas this week, so any advice would be great. Thanks

Fuel Filter and Spark Plugs is where I would start.

I changed my fuel filter @ 57,300 miles on my 2003 GT and what came out of it is best described as the black ****ing plague. It was utterly disgusting.

Sounds like youve got some kind of raggged out CAI and MAF. Got any friends to switch to their intake and MAF? Otherwise check plugs.

Well, I put the car on a system scanner and here is the damage..

P1443 EVAP Purge Valve Fault
P0151 H02521 CKT Low Voltage
P0155 H02521 Heater CKT Fault
P1151 H02521 Snrs Indicates lean
P1152 H02521 Snsr Indicates rich
P0308 Cyl #8 Misfire

I didnt fully understand all of the codes, but I believe the majority are O2 Sensor related. The Misfire on cyl #8 is also a major issue.. Saturday, im going to take off the cold air tube, clean the MAF, Air Filter, and Throttle Body.. Ill replace the plugs as well and see if that fixes her.. I sure hope so, cause shes running like an old lawn mower

You may need new 02 sensors as well. I would bet at 160K its time.

I would change the air filter, plugs and wires. Then clear the codes. That may fix the missfire code which may also clear the O2 codes. If the O2 code comes back, it looks like your O2 in Bank 2, Sensor 1 is bad.
