Question 2001 GT = 300 miles per tank???

I just bought a 2001 GT with 67k miles on it. Engine, paint job etc perfect, no leaks, had a mechanic check the engine out no problems. The car burns gas like crazy, and I just chalked it up to it being a V8. I was telling a friend in school that just filled the car up with grade 87, and set the trip counter and I am at 133 miles, and the fuel guage is a little before a quarter of a tank left, I think I may get around 160-180 miles on this tank. He said I should get close to 300? Is this true, should I have the fuel line checked out?

well it's a new car... have you considered the possibility of the lead foot syndrome?

you're not going to get 300 mi unless you're all highway for that time. I got a best 260mi (19.7mpg) with a combo of freeway, and street driving.

Im lucky to get 200miles per tank.... but im all city driving.

i think it sounds about right to me..check your air filter.. change your oil or something.. just do a tune-up and let us know if it still happens

Had an oil change, but havent changed the air filter. Gas filter? Its been all city miles, no highway so thats prob part of the reason, I just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong, he scared me when he said I should get 300 miles, the guy who told me that said he has a 96.

I just filled up and had 204.7 miles, got 18.5 mpg that tank. Thats driving like an ******* with mostly all city driving and lots of hills. When im on the highway its definitely around the 25mpg range.

I got like 330 when I was a bone stock with 2.73 gears cruising around.... very little stop/ start.

I would check the plugs and air filter and replace the fuel filter.... you don't know how long it's been since they have been changed.
