is everyone missing the fact that this is going to be his DD?

DD cars get beaten from the wear and tear of DD. i wouldnt want to DD a nice cobra for obvious reasons.

hes got the camaro for his performance fix.

OP: i would go with the cheaper GT.

I would go with the Cobra or Mach. Do not be confused that it's the same car with a different engine. Cobras/Machs are better cars. Better brakes, sway bars, aluminum block, etc. I use my 98 cobra as a daily and love it. Not to mention I can run down most full bolt on GT's. Then there is the issue of the Teksid block that comes in the Cobra. If you ever plan on building that car, the Teksid block and forged crank make it worth the extra money now. I also recommend the 96-98 Cobras, they're only about 10-15hp behind the 01 Cobra and you can usually find them for a lot less money. I'm sure someone disagrees with me, but this is my opinion.

I don't think I'll ever buy another GT again.
When I bought mine I had a choice and could have gotten a mach one for $2500 but it was streaching my budget.
Years later my car is worth 7k less then I paid and the mach ones in similar condition are down maybe 2-3 K
The more rare the car the better it keeps its value, they pay for themselves in the long run.

The only things I can think of that would make a GT a better DD is.....
Initial cost.
MPG.
Cost of replacement parts (Normal maintenance stuff like brake rotors etc may be cheaper)
