Default 4.6gt setup

I'm looking to rebuild and hopup a 4.6 and was wondering where I might be able to find some setups that people have used in the build of their motor. I would like to compile lists as the range of parts is outragous and was looking for parts that have worked well.

Try the websites for some Mustang magazines, like Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, and 5.0 Mustang, and seach through their tech articles. You could also just search around the internet for 4.6 buildups.

Most places willrecommend that you buy a short block from them unless you have a machine shop that knows how to rebuild a 4.6. With the cost ofthe rotating assembly and installation it will be almost as muchas buying a short blockand sending yours inas a core. Tim from www.modularfordpowerhouse.com was telling me about this. I ended up getting 11cc Diamond dished pistons, Manley H beam rods, and a cobra crank from him through VT Engines. It included everything I needed for the swap plus he gave me the clearances to give to the machine shop.My block is still in the machine shop so I can't tell you how it's working out for me yet.

A mechanic at the local Ford dealership was telling mehow the deck needs to be withinvery specific specs and if it wasn't it would leak like crazy. He also tried to tell me that only Ford can do it and that no machine shop out there is as good as them. Yadda yadda yadda...

The owner of the machine shop I have my block at laughed when he heard that. He said it was a pretty arrogant statement to make especially since all the Ford screw ups he's fixed.
