I've been wanting to hook my iPod up for awhile but the adapter from Crutchfield lists that it cannot be used with a stereo that has a built in CD changer. Anyone with the 6 disc in-dash had success?

Yes it works with a 6 disc, that is what I have, the Mach system with 6 disc. The Ipod controller I posted above is awsome and I have no problems with it. The only problem is that now my 6 disc doesn't work anymore, but I don't care cause I just burn the disc onto my Ipod!!!!

I've installed dozens of these things and thousands of stereo. I wouldn't waist my time or money on it but it's up to you. Yes you can integrate an aftermarket deck without loosing the Mach amps and the difference in ohm load is easily taken car of by a professional installation with the correct equipment.

What "properly fitting headunit" cost 600-2000 bucks....Unless ur looking at a indash screen. Damn! You get yourself a nice pioneer or alpine headunit for 250 and a $20 wire harness to intergate mach(metra 70-5519) and a couple of other compents for fitment and mach intergation and your set. Just like sxynerd said.

The headunit is the heart and soul of an audio system with a decent headunit on your system will sound ten times better with all the extra audio controls you get. Like high filter, subwoofer control(level, and Low pass filter) and a real EQ(depends on the brand what you get) beside the bass and treble that factory gives you, etc.

Yes me me it would cost that much because if I alter my car I tend to upgrade. 250 is what I paid for tape decks in the 90's. If your going to do something do it right!!!

I agree if your going to do it do it right....Yeah back in the late 90s I got a DVD player(For the house) that cost $500 but when technology gets beter, smaller, etc it get cheaper. Just like computers, well pretty much any type of technology is like this. I can see if you wanted to rip out the whole mach system with new speakers, headunit, amp you could spend that type of money, but you said headunit so unless you are looking at an indash dvd player would I see you spending that type of money. We are getting way off topic with this bc the OP just wanted to add an ipod interface and some people just recommended an aftermarket headunit to solve he problem, but since we are already off topic I dont know how you are hearing any boost over that big ol' 15 you have.

Decent headunits these are all suggested retail so I am sure you can find them cheaper then what the manufacturer wants online.
