Got a set of FRPP 4.10s that I havn't installed yet and am wondering what the impact on trans temps will be.
Is a seperate cooler needed?

Normal driving and drag racing will be fine without a trans cooler.

I use Ice, a sh*tload of Ice lol. I'm just phucking with you bro. As many have stated, you don't need to worry about that with a gear install, but I did change my tranny fluid to AMS Oil when the time came to have mine serviced and i must say that i'm pleased so far.

No trans cooler is needed just because you change your gear ratio in the rear end... Trans coolers come into hand when you've done some serious work to a trans and you're working it hard.

Or on some cars, the trans have issues of overheating and tearing up (like older dodge trucks) so they put trans coolers on those.

Never had a problem with my mustang, or heard of any. I don't think I know anyone with a trans cooler on a ford. I mean guess it could hurt. But better places to put your money.

That could be... Definitely putting more stress on the trans. Also if you are upgrading your torque converter, then you've done some engine work (cams at least) and your going to be pushing the tranny much harder than stock hp. Plus upgraded torque converter is going to equate to harder take offs which would probably warm it up more...

Nonetheless I wouldnt figure a rearend change warrants a trans cooler unless your going to be driving at extremely high rpms for long distances. In that case, yea the rear end making rpms higher than normally would be might make the trans warm up a little.

But I honestly don't know much on the subject so I will stop there.

Good to know, I though the extra rpms of the steeper gears might have been enough to warrant a trans cooler.
One less thing I have to spend money on for now.
