Default forged crank??????

The crank is the weakest link in a stock 03 GT right? I'm not sure and need some help. how much does it cost to get it installed by a professional and how long will it take? How high will I be able to go if that is indeed the first thing to go?

Most will say that with a good tune, you can be safe at ~400hp. But our weekest link is not our crank, it is our piston rods which are the first to go. But if you are going to replace the piston rods, you REALLY might as well change the whole rotating assembly- crank, rods, and pistons.

Like said above the crank will hold around 650 but your stock rods will not make it. My let go at around 450 or a little less.

Ok. Can anyone give me a link to like the freakin' ford website giving me official numbers on how much HP my 03 GT can handle? I keep hearing "he said, she said" stuff and just want the official numbers if someone could be so kind. How much does it cost to get your internals forged with parts and labor?

There are no "official" or even unoffical absolute numbers once you start pushing things (anything, not just OEM engine components) to the limit. Rods made yesterday morning might fail at 450HP, rods made after lunch on the same line, by the same operator, might fail at 400HP.

The only thing Ford cares is that don't fail at 260HP.

The same is true of all OEM components, they are made with sufficient precision and quality so that they (or at least most of them) survive the OEM ratings--after that you're on your own...

I cracked a piston at 400 rwhp after 3,000 miles. What are your plans for your car? MMR has 600 RWP Manley pistons, rods, and crank for $1499 and believe they have some wiggle room. This is the set I will be buying. In terms of install I would shop around prior to purchasing any parts to see the labor cost. It might be better just to buy a forged short block from MMR $2499.

That kits consists of a CAST crank, so he might as well just re-use his stock cast crank and just get forged rods/pistons instead of that kit.

Forged short block? I know I have a short block in my car but I'm not sure how a forged short block would help me. Does a forged short block already have all the internals done for me so it's just a even swap out or something? Does that make the job easier for the mechanic? I'm confused. Please explain this to me if you don't mind.

I was fine a 436rw but blew it up at 485.

I'm curious to know if a 8 bolt Cast crank is stronger than a 6 bolt cast crank..... Anyone smart want to tackle that? My logic is the 8 bolt is more harmonically stable than the 6.

And for the record the weakest link of the 4.6 is the Pressed powdered rods.... Followed by poor tuning.
