Transmission question
 

I have an 03 GT. Bone stock and tonight I was coming home doing 50 in 5th gear at about 1400ish RPMS. I heard a noise in my tranny/driveshaft area so I investigated it. I found that when I let completely off the throttle in 5th at 1400 and kinda tap the peddle it sounds like my tranny is moving WAYYYYYYYY to much. I also found that in lower gears (at higher RPMS) When i do this it still does it just not as bad.

My question:
What is this?! I think it's really bad but I'm not sure. Maybe tranny mounts?

It could be a problem, however it could also just be the normal backlash that is characteristic of higher power RWD manual transmission vehicles. Our cars are basically 1/2 ton pickup trucks with flashy bodies.

Rapid throttle changes, particulalrly at lower engine speeds, can bring out the worst in that normal backlash...

You need to have someone with appropiate experience drive/inspect the car and see if it's normal backlash or a real problem.

yep, finesse will be your best friend in this situation.
