trying to isolate squeak: should there be ANY play in tension pulley?
OK so I have narrowed it down to one of two things that are causing my car to squeak over bumps (or when my car idles, (it also shakes a lot due to the cams when its ~800 rpms)
I noticed that when my car idles, I can see the tension pulley move back and forth about a 1/2 inch at times. should it be doing this? The movement could possibly be making the belt squeak.
I also think it might be my JLT cold air intake that goes into my fender. When I look under the car, through the fender at the black PVC pipe, I can see where it has turned back to white where it is rubbing against that little hole in the side of the engine bay. It is either one of those two options.
So is the idle pulley suppose to have some "play" in it?
Thank you in advanced

You sure its not your ball joints? my car squeaks over bumps and its cause I need new ball joints. I would think the white on your intake is from the engine twisting when you romp on it and its probably installed to close to one of the edges of the sheet metal. Unless your intake piping is loose i cant imagine your intake making those sounds over bumps.
