Cam position sensor is just a magnet it doesn't make noise.

Does the engine idle rough?

No rough idle. **** man. What else could it be if there's no metal in the oil? Testing it with the belt off eliminates water pump, alternator, ac, smog pump, power steering right? blah

No rough idle rules out vacuum leak.

well it's in the shop getting the rear end fixed and at first glance the guy didn't have a clue but he said he'd look into it. I'll call him tomorrow and see what he's done

Ok so I just got my car back and the guy couldnt figure it out without starting to take things apart which would have cost me money so I decided to just try to figure it out myself. I tried taking a video but you can't hear the sound over the motor.

I found this thread on the internet with a video about half way down the page. Sounds EXACTLY like the noise I am getting. Mine, however sounds like it's coming from the drivers side, under the egr valve kind of. This guy said he blew a spark plug not too long after this noise started and he thought it was pressure escaping from the plug threads that had started to back out. It's about a 20 second video so please take a sec and try to help me out. Thanks.

Usually a sparkplug coming out sounds like a tick. But it can't hurt to check the plugs.

you sure its not one of the pulleys making this noise? power steering or a/c pulley? or the pump itself or a/c compressor itself?
