The only benefit to platinum or iridium is longevity. They are both poorer conductors when compared to plain 'ole copper.

yeah it has 189000 miles. positive it was oil. no gas smell at all. doesnt smoke or use anymore oil than normal... im going to be moving back to texas in about a week and driving the whole way. about 800 miles. just want to make sure im not gonna blow up on the way. i changed all the spark plugs and im gettin an oil change. hoses look good and all that. cars running great now that i changed the spark plugs.

if its running good i wouldnt worry about it too much.

some of my plugs looked like they had oil on them when i took them out. my car has 111k on it and it runs great but does burn some oil(has since i bought it last summer and i put over 4,000 miles on it without a problem)
i changed the oil and added lucas oil stabilizer and it seems like it helped. if i lose oil still im just putting another quart of lucas in.
